Welcome
The process of helping our children find appropriate colleges has become increasingly challenging over the past two decades, so much so that some parents feel that they must "strategize" their children's placement in "the right schools" at the pre-kindergarten level. Working with students and their families as they begin the college search has been a joyful experience for me. Having teamed with students and their families while a high school counselor as well as an independent consultant, I have learned how to frame the college process, alleviating anxiety while offering a step-by-step approach which has proven to be helpful in managing the many details. This road to learning about colleges which are a good "fit" can be a wonderful time of self-discovery for the entire family.
I have been an educator for 41 years, 38 of those years serving the Greenwich Public Schools and the greater Greenwich community. I began as an English teacher at Western Junior High School for seven years which led to my becoming school counselor, eventually moving to Greenwich High School. I became a mentor and advocate for students and staff, developing strong and enduring relationships with them as well as with college admissions staff across the United States. I have participated in scores of school and community panels, committees, and forums dealing with high school students and all things teen, from eating disorders and disorderly conduct to study habits and dating rituals. I developed a keen clarity of purpose and skill set to deal with adolescents and their foibles and fears.
I also created a college planning and application process based on my experiences and the premise that, with deliberate preparation, students will be accepted to colleges where they will receive the education best-suited to their individual talents and temperament. What I have found to be consistently true is that when I align the expectations and interests of the students with whom I work with colleges that are a good fit, my students are accepted into a college of their choosing--and they are happy.
